The ships are said to bring nearly a half million cruise ship passengers to Seattle each year. Currently, the ships call at Terminal 30 and Terminal 66 in the downtown Seattle waterfront community. The Port of Seattle Commission has lured in a big fish, Carnival Cruise Lines, with a $1 million rebate for a 10-year agreement that gives Carnival, their Holland America Line and Princess Cruises preferential use of the the soon to be opened Terminal 91 berths for their five ships. The Port of Seattle's website now indicates all 2009 sailings of the current T30 tenants will take place from T91, so if it was me I'd disregard proximity to T30 for your trip planning.įound it online, can't find Pier 66 on it or where 91 would be, but I think I'm leaning toward the Seattle Marriott Waterfront.įound it online, can't find Pier 66 on it or where 91 would be, but I think I'm leaning toward the Seattle Marriott Waterfront. It's only three blocks by the crow between the market and T66, but more like 10 by the taxicab. The exception to this is for pax using the Pier 66 cruise terminal (NCL and transients.) In that case the Marriott is right across the street, the Edgewater is more or less next door, and the Pike Market (Inn at the Market) is at the top of the bluff overlooking the waterfront, but accessible only by elevator, stairs, or a zigzag pattern of streets due to the steepness of the bluff.

T30 and T91 are both extremely pedestrian-unfriendly in terms of access, so the difference in practical terms between 0.8 miles and 1.8 miles or whatever is negligible, aside from a buck or two more in taxi fare.

Except for the mile or so between Piers 50 (ferry terminal) and 70 (south end of Olympic Sculpture Garden) Seattle's is a working waterfront, with cargo handling - cranes, trucks, rail sidings, container yards, etc. For example, the 0.8 miles between the Silver Cloud Stadium and T30 is quite a wasteland of railroad tracks, warehouses, freeway overpasses and rumbling trucks. Note that mileage in Seattle can be deceptive due to steep hills, or water bodies, or major arterials that get in the way.
